This pattern i created to look like an emerging mayfly. I just call it a Pheasant Tail Emerger because for this fly i decided to use the original pheasant tail nymph as the nymph emerging. No it is not all crooked it is suppost to be the way it is. if you look at it when the hackle is level with the water and the tail faces straight down like a nymph struggling to escape its shuck!

so i have been doing some more work with silli skin which is really fun stuff to work with! and i have been enjoying it except that it sticks to everything!. I concocted this creation up last night for bass fishing. Not extremely happy with the turnout. the foam under it was attached by thread and you can see where the tread wraps were. i tried today with some sticky foam but it would not stay sticking but it looked neater just would come off the hook…..

So it has been a dull Tuesday. Puddles everywhere walking home from school. Getting my socks wet really sucks….. one thing i hate so much in life is getting your socks wet…… such a wet soggy feeling eeuugh!

Anyways back to what i am suppose to write about that fly fishing this we all follow like it is some religion! So i was tying my flies like i normally do when i get home from school and i started thinking…….I was thinking……. **i feel you should know at this point in my writing i am experiencing writers block!** I am not even sure what i was thinking as i was filling up the nymph fly box! Ohh yeah i guess i could talk about some nymphs in my fly box! First off i belive every fly box is like someones house…. it is customized how you want it. With what you want in it. With what you like in it. and what makes you look cool when you show it too your friends! So my fly box has some tried in true patterns that i love (prince, pheasant tail, hares ear) because almost every fisherman has those 4 fly patterns in his vest or pack somewhere! I have some patterns that i have found over the years that look flashy and would kill on stocked trout! I have some attractor nymphs, General mayflies, caddisflies, and stoneflies-all nymphs and my favorite selection would by my 4 rows of Czech nymphs! if you don’t know what Czech nymphing is well then….. i guess you don’t know what it is and need to do a little research. and of course everyone has flies they don’t admit to having so to be *official* i don’t have any eggs or san juan worms, green weenies, suckerspawn, or any other of that stuff! but unofficially i have some of it when the stocked trout dot feel like playing with anything else! I am working on doing photos of some of these flies to post up here for your fly tying pleasure! bear with me school work sucks and i never feel like doing it when fly boxes are not full!

feel free to comment and talk about your candy box!

Wow…..my first impression with this stuff….. Amazing stuff! I love to tie streamers with this stuff! It is incredibly easy to tie with! makes great streamers. To tie a streamer pattern with this all you need is the UV Chenille!!!! A One Pattern Fly that looks great and acts great in the water! Comes in various colors for your streamer tying pleasure. Looks different in the picture but once this stuff gets wet it has amazing action and look!

Snow/Rain/Crap

So i am getting fed up with all this extra snow…….. lots of crap on the side of the road that looks like crap all brown and such from cars….and rain predicted for monday will melt all this snow away into our rivers and lakes….. so it looks like the rain in the forecast will wash away all this snow into our rivers and make them high again for like the 3rd fricking time this year….. but dont worry every story has a silver lining……. I have heard from a few sources including a few guides that the spring fishing will be on FIRE!!! good water levels all though the year and good fishing later in the season! The SNP will probably be fishing well later this year the normal… Good flows all year for floating rivers

Fly Tying…..

School Days get really long and i often find myself daydreaming about fly fishing and fly tying…. often times a new fly pattern gets written on the back of classwork or such…. I have been in the works of a new nymph pattern that originated on the back of some classwork in school. I have been experimenting with doing a dubbing loop which is a really cool technique if you have never tried it. I am a huge fan of woolly buggers with dubbing on them and now my go-to bugger is a dub-bug (my own version of a woolly bugger). If you there is still any doubt in your mind about attending the fly tying marathon it will be incredibly awesome! lunch will be provided and deserts!

Kayak Stuff

Have some fly rod holders coming in soon to put on the kayak for some summer smallmouth action on the fly from the yak! Been hard at work filling my new smallmouth fly box for the coming season……however i must say i am more stoked for the trout season!

Fly Fishing

Might go fly fishing on Sunday after the marathon but that is still in the works!
