Spark-L-Hopper Step by Step

This will imitate a hopper and works great fished under trees. Killer on smallmouth and trout

Hook: Sz 12-6 3x long

Thread: 3/0

Spark-L Hopper

Body: Brown Foam

Flash: Krystal, Silver

Wing: Elk Hair

Legs: Silli Legs

Head: Green Foam

Attach Hook To vise…….

Tie in flash……

Cut a piece of brown foam as shown. Tie it up and make body segments. IMPORTANT!!!! then fold it over and do the same segmenting on the bottom. Cut off where the fold was.

It should now look like this

Tie in the elk hair wing. Just like in an elk hair caddis

Add flash to your wing!

Take your silli legs and cut a length about a bit more than 2x the hook shank length. fold the silli legs in half and tie a knot at each end. With the knot at the end with the fold cut the fold off. Should look like this. Do one pair for each side.

Put a leg in at each side so it looks like this.

Tie in the Head. Whip Finish. Put head cement under and around the head as well as on the under body so it doesn’t rotate around.
